Why This Matters
Most online detox and rehab directories are little more than paid listing boards. A provider pays a fee, they get a listing, and patients are left to figure out on their own whether the provider is licensed, reputable, or actually able to care for them.
We built Detox Access Network differently. Every provider in this directory has been reviewed against specific requirements before being listed — and those requirements exist because patients deserve to know what they’re getting before they entrust their care — or their withdrawal — to a stranger.
Our standards are public, our requirements are specific, and we re-verify every listing annually.
The Vetting Process
Providers submit an application with their business name, location, ownership, services offered, and licensing information. We review every application personally — there is no automated approval process.
We confirm that the applicant holds the required state medical, nursing, or facility licenses for the jurisdiction they list. We check licensing boards and the NPI registry where applicable.
We screen each applicant against the OIG LEIE and state Medicaid exclusion lists. Providers with active exclusions or sanctions are not listed — period.
We confirm the care settings the provider actually serves (home detox, facility, telehealth) and the substances they treat, so patients are not routed to providers who cannot help them.
Every listing is reviewed annually. Providers must reconfirm their licensing, credentials, and service scope each year. Any provider that no longer meets our standards is removed from the directory.
Our Requirements
These are the non-negotiable requirements for any provider listed on Detox Access Network. No exceptions.
Every listed provider must hold current, unencumbered licenses for the care they offer in the states where they list. Expired, probationary, or sanctioned licenses do not qualify.
Providers listed on federal or state exclusion, sanction, or debarment lists — including the OIG LEIE — are not eligible. We re-screen these lists every year.
Providers may only list the services they are actually licensed and staffed to deliver. A facility without medical detox capability cannot list as a medical detox provider.
Providers must disclose the care settings they serve, substances treated, insurance accepted, and whether they accept cash pay. Hiding scope or routing patients into upsells does not qualify.
Facilities must have a licensed, operational location. Physicians and nurses must be actively licensed and reachable. Lead-generation fronts with no clinical operation behind them are not accepted.
Every listing is reviewed each year. Providers that lose licensure, receive sanctions, change ownership, or no longer meet our standards are removed without exception.
Our Reasoning
The licensure requirement exists because withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs can be medically dangerous. A patient deserves to know that the person or facility offering to manage their detox is actually licensed and equipped to do so — not a call center routing calls for a commission.
The exclusion check exists because providers sanctioned for fraud, patient harm, or kickbacks should not be one click away from a vulnerable patient. Screening the OIG LEIE and state exclusion lists is the bare minimum, and we do it every year.
The scope-matching requirement exists because too many directories route patients to providers who cannot actually treat them — a facility with no medical detox capability listed as a medical detox provider, or a physician listed for home detox in a state where they aren’t licensed. Patients end up worse off than before they searched.
The transparency requirement exists because patients are routinely routed into high-pressure sales calls before they learn what a program costs or whether it accepts their insurance. We require providers to disclose scope and payment options up front so patients can make an informed first call.
The Human Verified Badge
When you see the Human Verified badge on a provider’s listing, it means our team has personally reviewed and confirmed that this provider meets all of our listing requirements at the time of their most recent annual verification.
It means they hold active licensure, they have cleared exclusion and sanction screening, their listed service scope matches what they are licensed and staffed to deliver, and they disclose payment and care-setting information up front.
It does not mean we are endorsing the provider or guaranteeing the outcome of any treatment. We encourage all patients to ask questions, verify licensing directly, and speak with the provider before making any care decision. Withdrawal can be medically dangerous — always seek evaluation by a qualified healthcare provider.
